When your list gets that long it's meaningless. It's no longer a backlog; it's a millstone. Delete it; burn it; flush it down the loo; bleach your brain; start again from fresh. You will be liberated. Do not start a new list until you have completed or consciously abandoned each of the series that you have actually watched in the last fortnight. Anything older than that you have abandoned. After that never let your list get longer than six. Anything more will be to massage your ego, ie "the anime is important because I have it on my list", not because you might actually want to watch it. If it isn't in your top six how much does it really interest you? It is bound to be replaced before you get around to watching it. Don't be afraid to dump something from your top six if something more appealing comes along. Know yourself. Be honest with yourself. Trust yourself to be able to choose something that matters to you when the time to start a new series arrives. You will also get more enjoyment from the series you are watching thanks to the absence of unnecessary, self-inflicted pressure. **** Oh, and here's the quote again. From the dub. **Piercing scream** Voice: She’s been stabbed in the chest! Voice: Is she breathing? Miss XXXX! Voice: Where did you come from? Voice: How did you get in here? Voice: You look suspicious. Identify yourself. Character: Suspicious am I? You’re quite right in thinking that of me. Voices: Mmm. Huh? Character: Listen closely. If we don’t set up more barriers in the back rooms it will become… (faces camera)… dangerous. Timestamp. Last edited by Errinundra on Wed Jul 02, 2014 9:34 am; edited 1 time in total |

Most of it is on a volunteer or at least semi-volunteer basis. ("Semi-volunteer" refers to cases where you technically don't have a choice because, out of a pool of options, other ones are later entries in franchises you don't follow or things you have reviewed in a previous incarnation.) Most of the time it isn't volunteer involves companies sending us review copies directly. Specific assignments from Zac usually only come in special circumstances. Yes, School Days was a volunteer; in fact, it was a high-priority one for me, since I basically set up part of how I'm going to approach it with my Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero review a couple of weeks back. (Though it's not as high-priority as Ben-To is - gods, was I annoyed that that one got delayed.) I absolutely agree that it can be looked at as a rip on harem series and I will definitely be talking about that. To not totally derail the thread: Damn, the current quote sounds familiar, but I guess I'll have to wait for a hint. |

When some one asks "Why doesn't [harem lead] man up and screw all the girls?" the answer is School Days.

Hint # 2: spoiler[This is the character's first appearance and first utterances in anime, even though it takes place well into this particular TV series. The character will appear more comprehensively in a subsequent TV series.]

Hint # 4 before I start work: spoiler[This is because in the Edo period merchants - the character sells medicines and also, apparently, marriage aids - were prohibited from bearing swords. The one he carries can only be unsheathed when used to exorcise mononoke and other ayakashi and, even then, only when certain conditions are met.]
That should make it obvious. |

spoiler[Well, this is Medicine Seller in the Bake Neko arc of Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales. The bride has just died mysteriously and, being an outsider, Medicine Seller falls immediately under suspicion. He instead seems to be warning everyone else to prepare themselves for what really killed the girl.]

Yeah, I was able to track it down based on the clues. spoiler[This is the opening scene of episode 9 of Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales. The speaker to be named is generally known only as Medicine Seller or Medicine Peddler, while the other speakers are family members or retainers of the household he is visiting, where a bride-to-be has been struck down.]
EDIT: Gah! dtm42 beat me by seconds! |

My edit was purely to italicise the word "really". That's all.
I should have mentioned in my answer that the voices belonged to the spoiler[members and guards of the bridal party,] but hopefully providing general context about the scene is good enough. |

I've just finished work for the week. Woohoo! dtm42 has it. Woohoo some more!
I was beginning to worry no one would guess - odd given that the what is essentially the character's name and the key word in the anime's title were both in hint # 4. The turn is open, although I think Key has a moral claim to it, given that he was pipped at the line at the end of the marathon. I love the English va's intonation in this scene and elsewhere, which helps make it, imo, the best arc of either series. spoiler[(Mononoke] wasn't dubbed.) |

I know trusting Amazon to provide accurate information is foolish, but Cinedigm's upcoming R1 release is currently listed as having an English dub. |

Since I happen to have one ready. . . from the subs:
“Even if you are my Brother, I won’t allow you to insult the Brother I know.” |
