Earns $12.1 million in Second Weekend, Stays on Top
A TOHO spokesperson has stated that Howl's Moving Castle will be shown in 50 countries around the world, starting with South Korea on December 24, France on January 12, Taiwan on February 5 and Hong Kong on March 17. These are the only countries that currently have release dates set.
Variety reports that Howl's Moving Castle earned $12.1 million in its second weekend, bringing its box office total to US$45.7 million (4.7 billion yen approx.). Tom Hanks' The Polar Express opened in third in Japan, taking in 1.8 million.
