Annie Awards Anime Nominations

Millennium Actress up for four Annies, Animatrix up for one.
Following last years clean-up of the Annie Awards by Spirited Away, Millennium Actress has again been nominated for four Annie Awards, including inthe most important category, "Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Theatrical Feature." Millennium Actress's full list of nominations is as follows:
Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Theatrical Feature
"Millennium Actress" - Go Fish Pictures
Directing in an Animated Feature Production
Satoshi Kon "Millennium Actress"
Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production
Miyoko Shōji as the voice of Chiyoko Fujiwara - "Millennium Actress"
Writing in an Animated Feature Production
Satoshi Kon, Sadayuki Murai - "Millennium Actress"
Also nominated for an Annie, in the Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Home Entertainment Production category, was The Animatrix, a compilation of Matrix related short animations, many of which were directed and produced by well known figures in the anime industry.
The Annie Award winners will be announced February 7th at Annual Annie Awards Ceremony at the Alex Theatre in Glendale California. A full list of the nominations can be seen on the Annie Award Website.
In 2001 Blood: The Last Vampire was nominated for "Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Theatrical Feature" but lost out to Shrek.

Each year, Annie Award trophies are awarded for the year's best productions including feature film, short subject. home video, television production; as well as individual achievement by artists, writers and voice talent. The most prestigious awards given at the annual award ceremonies are the June Foray award, presented for special service to the artform; and the Winsor McCay award for a lifetime of achievement in animation. The 30th Annual Annie Award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Alex Theater, in Glendale, California.
