Media Blasters new Publishing Division to start with original work based on Flesh for the Beast
Media Blasters is working on a new publishing division that will kick off with a comic anthology based on their Flesh for the Beast live action horror.
The new label, which has yet to be officially named, will of course publish Japanese manga, but it will not be focusing exclusively on the re-publishing of Japanese titles. In addition to re-published Japanese manga, Media Blasters is also looking to acquire non-Japanese titles and original content not previously published anywhere.
Acting as editor-in-chief, Frank Pannone, formerly of CPM Manga, will be heading up the new division. Pannone states that he hopes to see the label release 3 or 4 graphic novels every month. Although talks are already underway for a number of licenses from Japan, no specifics are available yet.
Flesh for the Beast will be an anthology of seven stories based on the movie. Six of the seven stories will be comics by American creators, with the seventh a manga contribution from a Japanese creative team. Flesh for the Beast is expected to be over 250 pages and will retail for $9.99. It will be in the standard five by seven and three eights format.
