Acquires Digimon manga, no Anime Acquisition Announcements

TOKYOPOP has licensed the 15-volume Digimon series drawn by a Hong Kong-based artist. They expect to begin releasing it in late 2002. They've also confirmed that Nelvana does indeed have the license to the Groove Adventure Rave Anime, while TOKYOPOP holds the manga license. They are also looking to expand their number of Korean, Chinese and Taiwanese comic titles.

TOKYOPOP will be release two hardcover Art of Rayearth books by October. The books will sell for either $14,99 or $19.99.

Regarding the acquisition of older CLAMP tiltes, such as RG Veda and Tokyo Babylon, TOKYOPOP'S Joel Burrell stated, "Anything we can get, we will get."

Given the fees involved, the chance of for Kodomo no Omocha TV series being licensed for US release is "unrealistic," although Tokyopop is hoping some arrangement can be made.
