I try to add enlightening commentary, but let's face it:
I'm far from perfect.

I have seen two three videos that examine the concept of "classics" from distinctly different perspectives:
  1. Gigguk | Garnt Maneetapho

  2. Mother's Basement | Geoff Thew

  3. Bonsai Pop | Mike ?

In this video YouTube user Gigguk (Garnt Maneetapho) talks about SAO in the context of gateway anime.

Anime only continues to get more and more mainstream, but these are 10 anime we wouldn't want to recommend even though they're great.

Seen/Read All (public list) Rating
Kiddy Grade (TV) Good
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Very good (dub), Excellent (sub)
Kill la Kill (TV) Excellent (edit.dub & sub)
    Pros:
  • Surprisingly humorous; it doesn't take itself too seriously.
  • Nice OST!
    Cons:
  • Some of the action scenes lack any rhyme or reason.
  • Episode #25 (OAV?) is heavy on action and weak on plot.
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Masterpiece
I was shy as a child as well.

Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (TV) Masterpiece
More of the same – and that is a good thing!

King of Thorn (movie) Masterpiece (dub & sub)

    • I've rated it as thus because not only is it a damned good movie, but I couldn't tell how it was gonna end. A fairy tale won't necessarily end in a fairy-tale ending. The OST is also pretty damned effective, as well!
    • Having now read the manga, I can now say that that this movie is unusual in that it actually improves upon the manga. The tragedy is better and there is a really good discussion of Sleeping Beauty, as well. In the end, I'm not surprised of this because in an included interview the director said that that he'd had to submit a number of different scripts to the producer (6? 7? I forget.) before the project was green-lit.
    Theron Martin wrote:
Casting the whole story within the framework of Sleeping Beauty – which, surprisingly, was not done at all in the source material even though it's almost a perfect fit – is a distinct improvement, too.
Kino's Journey (TV) Excellent (dub), Masterpiece (sub)

You just know that Kino is one badass MF.....
    Surrender Artist recommended it.
The ending is tragic. Nice OST.

    Kodomo no Jikan (TV) Good
    Lolicon.
Kodomo no Jikan: Anata ga Watashi ni Kureta Mono (OAV) Good
    Lolicon.
Koi Kaze (TV) Excellent (dub & sub)
Heavy on the drama; those requiring action in their anime need to look elsewhere.
Kokoro Connect (TV) Excellent (dub & sub)
I can't help but identify with the characters.....
Komi Can't Communicate (TV) Masterpiece (dub & sub)

Komi-san wa, Komyushō Desu., "Komi Has a Communication Disorder"

Notice the framing in the above image; also, please note that everyone but Komi has their mouth open while Komi is holding forth both a notebook and a pencil.

    Komi Shōko

    Tadano Hitohito

    Osana Najimi

"It sounds like a romance anime. It also looks like a romance anime. The way the score swells when Komi and Tadano communicate via blackboard enforce that: “Yep, this is a romance”.
"And then the series continues. More characters enter the story. And it dawns on you.
    "It is a comedy.

      Episode Reviews
    1. The animation is extraordinary! I suspect it was to generate some online chatter.....10/11
    2. It's absolutely hysterical to see Yamai trying to see Komi's underpants! So this is basically a slice-of-life episode.....9/11
    3. Watching almost everyone miscommunicate with Komi is pretty funny! 10/11
    4. Watching the episode being presented in medias res is both funny and informative! 10/11
    5. the 1st 7½ minutes are just hysterical! And that's even more impressive when you consider that the OP didn't even start until the 3rd minute! 10/11
    6. I was smiling at the end. 10/11
    7. Komi spoke! KOMI SPOKE TO TODANO!!! 11/11
    8. This episode is both funny and touching!!! 11/11
    9. Kyoto class trip. 11/11
    10. Valentine's Day 11/11
      • It's pretty hysterical to see Yamai obsessing over a tear in Komi's tights.
      • Certain segments of this episode are weirdly animated.....
    11. Todano and Komi become flustered on White day.
Please keep in mind that in Japanese culture that a black cat is considered to be an omen for a girl/woman to eminently become romantically involved with a boy/man. So the black cat is Komi and the tan tabby is Todano.
KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! (TV) Excellent
Interesting plot hook; nice ED; good action sequences. The OAV has a hysterical -- if surprisingly muted -- ending.
Kuro no Su - Chronus (movie) Masterpiece
It's only 25 minutes -- just take the time to see if you enjoy it! (I did.)
