Battle Girls: Time Paradox Cut by BBFC
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The BBFC website confirms that it has cut the upcoming MVM release of Battle Girls - Time Paradox by 8 seconds, to 'remove a scene in which the nudity of a character who is presented as under 16 is presented in a sexualised manner.'
The cut is described as 'compulsory' and 'in accordance with BBFC Guidelines, policy and the Video Recordings Act 1984.'
Battle Girls - Time Paradox is based on 2008 pachinko game (called Sengoku Otome - Momoiro Paradox in Japan) which re-imagines Japan's tumultuous sengoku jidai (Era of Warring States) with all of the warriors as female characters. The series' protagonist is Hideyoshi, a modern-day middle school girl who unexpectedly finds herself in this alternative-historical setting.
The series is described by the BBFC as containing 'strong violence' and 'sexualised nudity.'
The cut was reported by UK Anime News, which notes the BBFC previously cut 1 second from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - specifically part 10 - because it showed a young girl 'in the background of a shot suggesting sexual activity' and was deemed 'likely to encourage an interest in underage sexual activity.'
