Dōkyūsei's Asumiko Nakamura Launches Ōkoku Monogatari Series in Ultra Jump Magazine
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
This year's April issue of Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine revealed on Saturday that Asumiko Nakamura (Dōkyūsei, Double Mints, Utsubora) is launching a new manga series titled Ōkoku Monogatari (Kingdom Story) in the magazine's May issue, which will ship on April 19. The manga will be Nakamura's first publication in Ultra Jump.
The "adult fable" fantasy series takes place in a certain kingdom, and revolves around fated twins who can't live without one another.
The same issue also revealed that Yoshie Katō (Shindere Shōjo to Kodoku na Shinigami) will draw a manga adaptation of Kei Amagi's Assassins Pride light novel series starting in Ultra Jump's June issue, which will ship on May 19. Nino Ninomoto is credited for the original character designs.
Nakamura's Dōkyūsei manga inspired the Doukyusei -Classmates- anime film, which opened in Japan in February 2016. Aniplex of America opened the film in theaters in the United States last May, and released the film on home video in September. Nakamura's Double Mints manga is inspiring a live-action film adaptation that will open in Japan this summer.
Vertical Comics released Nakamura's Utsubora manga in North America in 2013.
