Funimation Channel to Relaunch in 2016
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
FUNimation Entertainment confirmed on Monday that it will relaunch its FUNimation Channel digital cable network in 2016. It will end its content and brand partnership with Olympusat on December 31. The relaunched channel will have a "renewed focus on delivering fans the very best selection of anime content in the market." Funimation will announce more details about the relaunch at a later date.
Funimation launched the FUNimation Channel in 2005, with Olympusat as exclusive distributor of the channel. The channel is a 24-hour cable network that broadcasts television anime series, films, and OVAs licensed by Funimation, Viz Media, and Nozomi Entertainment.
The cable provider Frontier gave the following notification to customers earlier this month:

For customers in Washington, Oregon, Indiana and Connecticut, Funimation is changing its name to TOKU. TOKU will continue to deliver Asian anime shows, but will add more variety including highly-rated Asian movies in the Live Action, Grindhouse and Independent genres. Customers in FiOS locations in OR, IN and WA can find TOKU on Channel 252. FrontierTV customers in CT will find TOKU on Channel 1484.
Frontier did not state whether the company Funimation is running the TOKU channel.
