They live by the motto "In the sea we live, the sea we protect, and by the sea we go." They must excel in their studies, but must also adopt an international mindset. They are the "Elite of the Sea," and are expected to be knowledgeable of the customs and cultures of other countries as well as their own.
The next issue of Comic Alive will reveal more details on the project, including an interview with the anime's staff, and more of the anime's characters. Manga creator Atto (Non Non Biyori) is designing the characters.
The magazine is also revealing that the anime will have a manga adaptation that will start ahead of the anime. It will be serialized in Comic Alive. Future issues of Comic Alive will reveal more details about the manga.
